The Story of the Man and the Three Gold Coins
The Story of the Man and the Three Gold Coins
a poor man married a woman, and they had a child. So the man decided to travel to seek a living, so he agreed with his wife on twenty years of travel, and if they increased by one day, the woman is free and free to do whatever she wants.
And his wife promised him that, and he traveled and left his wife and son, who was not one month old. He traveled to one of the countries where he worked in a wheat mill for a good man, and the owner of the mill walked from him to his activity, and after twenty years.
He Said To the Owner of the Mill:
I decided to return home because my wife promised me that she would wait for me for twenty years, and I wanted to see what was going on there. The owner of the mill said to him: – Work for me for another year, please.
The man said: – I can’t. I asked for the house, and it was time for me to go back. It’s been twenty years since I’ve been away. If I don’t come home this year, my wife will leave him, so the owner of the mill gave him three gold pieces.
And the owner of the mill said to him: – This is all I have. Take it, for it is not much for you. The man took the three gold coins and headed toward his village. On his way to the village, three passersby followed him. Two of the young men and the third were old man. They met and started talking, while the old man did not say a word, but was looking at the birds and laughing.
So the man asked: – Who is this old man?
The two young men answered: – He is our father.
The man said: – Why is he laughing like that?
The two young men answered: – He knows the language of birds and listens to their amusing and funny discussion.
The man said: – Why does he never speak?
The two young men answered: – Because each of his words has a monetary value.
The man said: – How much does he take?
The two young men answered: – For each sentence, he takes a gold coin.
The Man Said to Himself
I am a poor human being. Will I become poorer even more if I give this old man, the father of the beard, a piece of gold?
It is enough for me to listen to what he says and take out a gold coin from his pocket and hand it to the old man!!!
The old man said: – Do not enter the stormy river, be silent, and continue on their way.
The man said to himself: – A terrible old woman knows the language of birds and in exchange for two or three words he takes
A gold piece. What would he tell me if I gave him the second piece? And once again his hand slipped into his pocket and took out the second gold piece and gave it to the old woman!!!
The Old Man Said:
At the time when you see vultures hovering, go and find out what is going on, and be silent and continue on their way.
And the man said to himself: – Listen to what he said: How many times have I seen eagles hovering and did not stop even once to find out what the problem is, I will give this old man the third piece with this piece and without it, things will go.
And for the third time, his hand slipped into his pocket and he caught the last piece and gave it to the old woman!!! The old man took the gold piece and said: – Before you do anything, count in your mind to twenty-five and be silent, and they all followed the path. Then they called each other and parted, and the worker returned to his village.
On the way, he reached the edge of a river, and the river was storming and dragging branches and trees in its stream. The man remembered the first advice the old man gave him. He did not try to enter the river. He sat on the bank of the river and took out the bread from his bag and started eating. At these moments, he heard a voice and did not turn until he saw a knight and a white horse. The Story of the Man and the Three Gold Coins
The knight said: – Why don’t you cross the river?
The man said: – I cannot cross this raging river.
And the knight said to him: – Look how I will cross this simple river.
And as soon as the horse entered the river until the current swept it along with its rider, the whirlpools revolved around them and the rider drowned.
The horse continued swimming from where it descended, and its legs were pouring water. The man grabbed the horse and rode it, and he looked for a bridge to cross, and when he found it, he crossed to the opposite bank and then headed towards his village. And when he was passing near thick bushes, he saw three large vultures hovering!!!
The Man Said to Himself:
I will see what there is. He got down from the horse and hid among the trees, and there he saw three lifeless bodies, and near the bodies a bag of leather, and when he opened it, it was full of gold pieces.
The bodies were bandits who stole during the night from a passerby and then came here to share the spoil among themselves. But they differed in the matter, and they killed each other with pistols. The man took the money and put one of the pistols on his side.
He continued his walk, and in the evening he reached his house. He opened the outer door and reached the courtyard of the house. The Story of the Man and the Three Gold Coins
And he said to himself: – I will look out the window to see what my wife is doing. The window was open, and the room was lit.
He looked out the window and saw a table in the middle of the room covered with food, and two of his wife and a man sat there. His back was to the window, so he shivered from the horror of the surprise.
And he said to himself: – You traitor, you swore to me that you would not marry anyone but me and wait for me until I return, and now you live in my house and cheat on me with another man? He grabbed his pistol grip and aimed inside the house, but he remembered the old man’s third advice to count to twenty-five.
The man said to himself:
– I will count to twenty-five, and then I will shoot, and he began to count one… two… three… four…
Meanwhile, the boy was talking to the wife and saying: “Mother, I will go to this wide world tomorrow to look for my father. How difficult it is to live without him, my mother.”
Then he asked: – How many years have he been gone?
The mother said: – Twenty years, my son.
Then she added: – When your father traveled, you were only one month old.
The man regretted and said to himself: – If I had not returned to twenty-five, I would have made a mistake, and I would be tormented for it for eternity.
He shouted from the window: – My son. My wife. Go out and receive the guest you have been waiting for!
