Repentance
Repentance: a key to spiritual renewal and eternal salvation. It is a deep religious concept that is addressed by many religions and philosophies. It is not limited to a specific religion, but rather is a basic rule in a person’s spiritual life. The term ‘repentance’ expresses the process of internal change and comprehensive transformation in an individual’s life, as he turns from sins and transgressions towards goodness and righteousness.
Repentance means returning to God and turning away from sin, with sincere remorse for the bad actions that a person has committed. The most important conditions for repentance are complete cessation of sins, insistence not to return to them, and the decision to change behavior and move towards obedience and righteousness.
Repentance is important in achieving the spiritual renewal of a person and correcting the relationship between him and God. It represents an opportunity for a person to get rid of pitfalls, get closer to God, and walk on the right path that leads to lasting happiness in this world and the hereafter. To achieve correct repentance, a person must follow specific steps, including:
Admitting a mistake and sincere remorse.
Repenting to God with a sincere heart and a firm will to abandon sins.
Correcting the sin if it relates to the rights of others.
Resolve not to sin.
