True Happiness Comes Only After Suffering and Pain

our human existence always includes a twofold condition: a knowledge of suffering and, at the same time, an inexhaustible longing for happiness.

Suffering and the Search for Happiness

The Bible describes Jesus as “a man of suffering who is well aware of suffering” (Isaiah 53,3). The art of Christian sympathy derives from the suffering of Christ, a wonderful humanistic school that has obligated Christians of all ages, without which the dominance of evil would have made life unbearable and condemned man to mortal loneliness.

Suffering belongs to the mystery of man because it is the most “meaningful of one’s means through his great calling.” Nothing more than pain. Socrates develops the soul and awakens a person from his spiritual sleep, which often limits him. It is a mistake to consider illness merely an expression of human deficiency, because, on the contrary, it is the best form of perfection.

Suffering and Pain, a Way to Heaven!

In suffering there is the existence and resistance of the human being, so the memory of the suffering we live or that we always witness remains. It is a memory of stories, lost dreams, collective memories, pleasures, dear people, misery, photos, and encounters.

Suffering is a sacred place, where only bare feet may be trampled on, with fear and astonishment. A holy place, where everyone asks for hospitality, and where no one can be inhospitable.

Suffering indicates our attachment to life, our need for others, and our irrepressible longing for happiness that has existed in a person since eternity. Of course, no one likes and desires disease, and this does not entitle him to ignore it, judge it, or reject it as a curse that should be avoided.

Prayer for the Afflicted

O Lord God, who suffered and was tempted, we pray to you to help those who are tempted. Look at them with eyes of mercy, compassion, and love. You are a world of human weakness, not a woman born in front of you. Look, O Lord, at our weakness and humiliation, and do not treat us according to our sins.

Rather, by your abundant mercy, O good lover of mankind, grant patience and consolation to your suffering and afflicted servants.  Be of help to them, the help of the helpless, the hope of the small of hearts, the port of those in a storm.
Give the believers patience, consolation, grace, salvation, joy, and hope. Amen
